International strategy and engagement is a function of the International Group within the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Working in tandem with two other teams – State Safety Partnerships and CAA International – and with teams across the CAA and UK government, we foster strong and lasting relationships with aviation organisations internationally, to lay the foundations for long-term collaboration on aviation performance and progression of aviation strategies.
Our primary focus is working in partnership with global and regional agencies on international policy issues, including the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), and European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), and government agencies in the UK with responsibility for international regulatory issues.
We share the vision of the International Group to raise the standards of aviation across the globe, to protect those who choose to fly and those who do not.
Our work involves:
- facilitating CAA participation and leadership on international panels and working groups
- the provision of specialist personnel on secondment.
We are the focal point for government colleagues to access technical advice from across the CAA. We and our CAA colleagues deliver best practice insights from the UK CAA to enhance strategic policy and programme development all around the world.
We are committed to the role we play helping to shape tomorrow’s international aviation legislation, improving regulatory capacity and efficiency and sustaining society’s confidence in aviation.
